Our Services

IEP services are specialized educational supports, therapies, and accommodations provided under an Individualized Education Program (IEP) to students with disabilities who need them to succeed in school. These services include specialized instruction, related services like speech therapy, occupational therapy, counseling, and psychological services, as well as supplementary aids and assistive technology to remove learning barriers. The IEP is a legal document under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)that details these services to ensure a child receives a free and appropriate public education.

INITIAL MEETING

The purpose of an initial meeting is to establish rapport, discuss goals and expectations, understand requirements, and determine if there is a mutual interest in working together or developing a relationship further. Preparation, including thorough research and understanding objectives, is vital for making the most of this important first conversation

IEP DEVELOPMENT MEETING

6

IEP development is a collaborative, annual process where a team, including parents, teachers, and school staff, creates an Individualized Education Program for a student with a disability, outlining their present academic levels, measurable annual goals, needed special education and related services, and how progress will be monitored to ensure the student receives a tailored education in the least restrictive environment. Key steps include evaluation, scheduling a meeting, collaboratively writing the IEP, providing services, and then monitoring progress, with the process starting after a referral for a special education evaluation determines eligibility for services.

REEVALUATION MEETING

An IEP reevaluation meeting is held by the Individualized Education Program (IEP) team, which includes parents, at least once every three years to determine if a student still qualifies for special education services and to update their IEP as needed. The meeting involves reviewing existing data on the student's progress and needs to decide if new assessments are necessary. If further data is needed, assessments are conducted, and another meeting is held within 90 days to discuss the results and revise the IEP, ensuring the services and supports remain appropriate for the student.

DETERMINATION OF ELIGIBILITY MEETING

An IEP eligibility meeting is held to determine if a child qualifies for special education services under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). The school team reviews comprehensive evaluation results to decide if a child has a disability under one of the 13 disability categories and if that disability adversely affects their educational performance. If eligible, the next step is to develop an Individualized Education Program (IEP) for the child.

ANNUAL MEETING

An annual IEP (Individualized Education Program) meeting is a yearly, legally mandated conference for the IEP team (parents, teachers, and school staff) to review a student's progress, discuss their current needs, and update their IEP for the upcoming year. The goal of the meeting is to collaboratively ensure the IEP plan remains effective in helping the student meet their annual goals and receive a free, appropriate education tailored to their unique needs.

MANIFESTATION MEETING

The manifestation determination meeting is an IEP meeting to determine whether a student with a disability may be expelled from school or have his placement changed for more than 10 school days for misconduct. It must be held within 10 school days of the school's decision to expel the student or change his placement.
